One Bite. That’s All It Took: Unmasking the Forbidden Fruit

“Hi, I am so great that once again I am able to meet you like this. Welcome or welcome back. I am Jeswyn; this channel is all about studying the Bible, nothing more, nothing less. I have already posted a few videos, so if you watch them in the order I posted, it will be more useful to you.

Have you ever wondered why there is so much pain and suffering in this world? Why are things not in order? We are going to see when these things started to happen. We already saw God created Man In His Image. Not only that, He created a place for him to live – Eden Garden. It was magnificent with beautiful trees, fruits, and vegetables that humans can eat, animals and birds that do not harm people and can live in harmony with people.

One of God’s most important purposes for creating man is to have a relationship and fellowship with him. God created humans to have eternal love and fellowship with him. God did not create humans and leave them on their own to live; He created them a beautiful place for them to live where all their needs are already met. In that place, He continued to meet humans and interacted with them.

In the Garden of Eden, man’s relationship with God was excellent and perfect. God gave the first parents a few responsibilities. The first important one is to be fruitful and multiply, and it was their responsibility to cultivate and protect this Garden. This Garden of Eden was created in a small place. When they started to multiply as God desired, this place will soon not be enough for them. So, it is safe to assume that it is their responsibility to expand this Garden to other places of the World. Imagine this Earth full of Eden Gardens. God probably wanted this Earth to be like that, but look at our world. What we see now is a disaster. What happened before, we are going to understand the fundamental issue.

We are going to learn about a person, about an angel to be specific. He created angels in groups for specific tasks. This particular Angel called Lucifer was created to lead the worship of God in the most high place. He was created as a good Angel, and his primary responsibility was to lead a group of angels to worship God. Lucifer, the worshipper of God, started to desire the glory of God. Remember, as I said in the last session, God gave Angels the free will, to put it more plainly, he wanted to become God. Knowing these rebellious thoughts against God, he was cast out of God’s presence. Some angels considered him as a leader and followed him. This Lucifer is called Satan in the Bible, and the angels who followed him are demons. The simple translation of the word Satan is enemy or foe.

Satan and his demons developed enmity against God. They have been working against God since the day they rebelled against God and were cast out of the presence of God. They hate God and whatever belongs to God. There is one truth I want to highlight as we are talking about Satan. Sometimes when we think about Satan, we think that he is an opposite, equal, powerful enemy against God. This is simply not true. God is the creator; Satan was simply a creation. It is true that Satan has some power, but God’s power is unlimited, whereas Satan’s power is limited. God is omnipresent, Satan is not. God is all-powerful, Satan is not. God is all-knowing, Satan is not. Yes, he has some space that he can do certain things, but he cannot do anything that he wants to do.

Okay, let us come back to Eden Garden. When God created Eden Garden, he placed two special trees among other trees. They are called the Tree of Life and the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. They were placed in the middle of the garden. God gave only one command to Adam and Eve or a warning, if you may. They can eat any fruit from any trees, including the Tree of Life in the Garden of Eden, but they should not eat a fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. God warned them that if they eat, they will die.

One fine day in the Garden of Eden, probably Adam and Eve’s life was going smooth. There came a serpent, and it started to talk. It started talking to Eve. Probably Adam was doing something away; we don’t know. But the serpent was talking to Eve. The problem is it started to question what God told them not to do. Only from that, we understand the evil intent of that serpent. It deceived Eve with its words that they can eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, which God deliberately prohibited. That serpent told Eve, kind of in an indirect manner, that if they eat the fruit, they will be like God. God is so jealous that they don’t want them to be like him, that is why he was not allowing them to eat that fruit. What is this serpent? We do not know, but through its actions against God, we came to understand that probably it was Satan taking the form of a serpent, or Satan is controlling a serpent. We do not know what it is, but his actions speak that what it is doing is against God.

However, Eve was deceived by the Serpent’s words and ate the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Not only did she eat, she gave some fruits to Adam, and he ate too. Do you know what happened? As Satan told, their eyes
